This is the story of Joshua Robert Duckworth diagnosed with a rare genetic terminal disease 4H Leukodystrophy POLR3B and his family.
Josh is a fun loving 9 year old boy. He adores playing football for Bootle Bucks Inclusive FC and supports Liverpool FC. His passion are his football sticker books and he knows all the teams, the order they appear in the books and players. In 2023 he was lucky to have met the Liverpool FC team, including Harvey Elliott where he proudly claimed to Harvey “I only need you for my sticker book!”.
Josh was diagnosed with 4H Leukodystrophy POLR3B in 2023. This disease makes up a group of conditions that affect the white matter of the brain, affecting the nerves. This is a progressive disease, meaning that Josh’s condition will worsen over time to the extent that he could lose his ability to walk, talk and carry out the normal day to day things, along with the things he loves to do. There is currently no treatment or cure available.
This page has been created for Josh’s future as people wanted to help support Josh and his family. Funds raised through donations and events will help support Josh with his future needs including home adaptations, modifications and to make memories. To make his life easier when the disease starts to progress and his needs change. We do not know what the future holds for Josh but he has so much love and support from his family, friends and others that are always around him.
It also gives us a chance to raise awareness of the disease Leukodystrophy.
Thank you for your support it means so much to his family, friends and a lovely happy little boy.
