Help My Brother Get His Life Back

This is my brother and here is his story .

My brother Darcy is 51 years old. Over a decade ago, after a serious accident, he was prescribed opioids multiple times by a medical system he trusted. What followed was a devastating spiral into addiction that has robbed him of everything—his thriving construction business, his long-term partner, and the loss of his 2 year old son , now 13-who desperately needs his father back. Seeing my own father at 82 years old still working in construction to support him and save money for treatment has been more than heartbreaking . We knew we were helpless in his fight until he hit rock bottom and wanted to now fight for his life .

Like so many others, Darcy turned to the BC healthcare system for help. But the reality is, many publicly funded treatment programs leave people dependent on medications like methadone or suboxone. They replace one addiction with another, and relapse is common. You walk out still an addict—just addicted to something different.

For the last 7 years, I’ve done everything I can to support Darcy and give him hope. I’ve witnessed how addiction takes over everything: your mind, your body, your soul. It changes how you think, how you feel, and how you love. It’s no longer about getting high, it’s about surviving the unbearable sickness that comes when you try to stop.

Darcy told me once: “When you’re withdrawing, it’s like you’re dying inside. Then you remember just one little hoot and all the pain goes away. That thought is what keeps you using.”

But something has changed.

Darcy had a powerful spiritual experience, he felt a constant, unseen hand on his shoulder, as though someone was guiding him. When he finally surrendered to the idea of real, complete healing, that hand lifted. He believes it was a sign, a divine push toward a new path.

Now, for the first time in years, Darcy is ready. Truly ready. He wants to free himself from this darkness, for himself, for his son, and for everyone who loves him.

He’s been accepted into one of the top addiction treatment centers in Canada. It’s a 50-day intensive program focused on complete recovery, not just harm reduction. There’s no methadone, no suboxone. Just healing. This program addresses both the addiction and the mental health struggles that come with it.

Unfortunately, this level of care comes at a cost. The provincial government offers no support for this type of treatment. I’m prepared to cover whatever I can, but I can’t do it alone. That’s why I’m asking , on behalf of my brother, for your help.

Every single dollar will go directly to the facility. As soon as they finalize the setup, the treatment center will be listed as the direct beneficiary.

If you know Darcy, or if you believe in second chances please consider donating. Help give him the opportunity to reclaim his life, rebuild his future, and be the father his son needs.

Thank you so much for your kindness, your prayers, and your support.
I truly believe that when you change one life, you help change the world.
