It’s that time of year again. We are raising funds to honor and remember Josh and Jason Hurlburt through the MUSIC AND MISCHIEF SCHOLARSHIP, which will be awarded to 1 Perry High School Senior at Graduation in June of 2026. This will be our 4th year offering this scholarship.

Both Josh (class of 2000) and Jason (class of 2002) were students of Perry Elementary and High school.

Josh played saxophone in Concert band and sang in the Concert Chorus. He also participated in both school soccer and summer soccer leagues. While he liked his activities, the thing he loved most at school was finding any bit of Mischief he could get himself into. Josh was also a member of the Perry Wrestling team and often asked to have baked beans the night before a match…enter mischief.

Jason was quite the opposite of Josh. He had a heart of gold and music was his passion. He played saxophone in the Concert Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band and many smaller ensembles; he also sang in the Concert Chorus and Select Chorus. His participation in many NYSSMA solo festivals led to being invited to several All County concerts Jason loved participating in school musicals: including OKLAHOMA!, CINDERELLA and playing Charlie Bucket in WILLIE WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.

While they were very different from each other, both of them would give the shirt off their backs to anyone in need. Everyone who spent time with either of them had fun.

Our scholarship recipient will carry the best traits of both boys. They will have a love of music, be genuinely kind, and will also know how to have fun and get in a little mischief once in a while.

Please help me in remembering Josh and Jason through this scholarship. The school has requested to know the amount of the scholarship by May 1 this year so we can only collect funds until April 30.

If you can't donate, please share this so that others may see it. Last year, our scholarship check was $1000!
