For the 19th anniversary of the September 11th Terror Attacks please join me in support of the inaugural funding of The Joseph Piskadlo Foundation. The Joseph Piskadlo Foundation is a New Jersey Non-Profit organization with the mission of providing an annual scholarship to a student in the hometown of the Piskadlo family - North Arlington, New Jersey - as well as a student in each of the hometowns of the next generations of our family – Cranford (NJ), Roxbury (NJ) and Owings Mills (MD). Scholarships will be awarded to candidates who are pursuing higher education, licenses or certifications in professions involving work with their hands.
My father, Joseph Piskadlo, passed away on 9/11 while reporting to a call on the 104th floor of the North Tower. He was a lifelong union carpenter and could build just about anything with his hands. Although my childhood memories of my dad are slowly fading away, many of the things he built have stood the test of time and remain in our lives today. His creations, whether functional or for fun, were far beyond anything I could ever accomplish and I’d give anything to have him for just one home improvement project today.
Working with our hands and creating something out of nothing is becoming a lost art. Please join us in the promotion of vocational and technical education and help support the next generation of “doers”.
