The Johnsons’ Journey

Donation protected
You may or may not know “The Johnsons,” but the journey they are facing is heartbreaking to all. I created this campaign to share their story because they need LOTS of PRAYERS and SUPPORT! When a lot of people do a little, HUGE things can happen. I hope after reading this you’ll say plenty of prayers and donate to help this incredible family.

In early December 2022, Lisa Johnson took her husband Johnathan Johnson (JJ) to the ER. He ended up being admitted for excessive edema, swollen tongue, and strange cough. JJ underwent days of blood work, tests, scans, and was released with NO diagnosis, treatment plan or understanding of WHY he was experiencing these symptoms. From there, he was referred to see a cardiologist, nephrologist, pulmonologist, neurologist, immunologist and lastly an endocrinologist. After all these costly appointments, FINALLY the endocrinologist unlocked some answers that lead JJ into the hands of a hematologist and oncologist.

On January 26th, JJ was diagnosed with an INCURABLE cancer called Multiple Myeloma (MM or Kahler’s disease). Multiple Myeloma is when plasma cells, a certain type of white blood cells located in the bone marrow, become cancerous and multiply.
This disease damages the bones, immune system, kidneys, and red blood cell count. The exact cause of Multiple Myeloma is unknown and, in its extremity, even more rare in people under the age of 40.

In addition to this devastating diagnosis, his medical team suspects the symptoms he continues to experience are related to ANOTHER INCURABLE disease called Amyloidosis. As if a cancer diagnosis wasn’t bad enough, this diagnosis will complicate his condition even more. Unfortunately, the doctors can’t begin treating his cancer until they confirm what’s causing JJ’s DEBILITATING symptoms. We PRAY this happens prior to his scheduled appointment on February 23rd at MD Anderson.

Over the last 10 years JJ and Lisa have committed their lives to being present EVERY DAY with their 4 children. In fact, prior to this experience you’d rarely ever see one without the other. JJ has also spent the greater part of his adult life eating healthy, exercising, and coaching others to do the same. Sadly, the debilitating symptoms of his current condition are preventing him from working, walking normal, sleeping, and living a normal life. Battling cancer is brutal and doing it with 4 children under the age of 10 is completely devastating. The burden this family is carrying is HUGE and they need OUR HELP BADLY!

The lifetime cost to treat Multiple Myeloma exceeds both breast & lung cancer.
There are 4 financial phases with treating this cancer. The phase-specific monthly out of pocket cost is roughly $1200 for the pre-diagnosis phase, $11,000 for the initial phase, and $6000 for both the continuing care phase and terminal phase. JJ will soon be entering into the initial phase of treatment. Surely everyone can agree that the last thing this family needs to worry about is being able to afford that treatment.

Everyone LOVES The Johnsons so please take a few seconds to show your love too by sharing the “Johnson Journey” with EVERYONE YOU KNOW, donating financially and most importantly praying.

~Together we can and will make a difference~
