The John Treacy 10-Mile Run for Oscar
We are a group of friends (Triona Broderick, Julie Harty, Kate Higgins, Sarah Higgins, and Moya Verling) who will run on 5th February 2023 to help raise funds for Oscar Fitzgerald who is an amazing 6-year-old boy with severe disabilities and complex medical needs.
This is a cause very close to our hearts. We are family & friends of Oscar, who is a gorgeous little boy born with a rare genetic condition: Trisomy 13/Patau Syndrome. Little Oscar needs 24-hour care. He is intellectually and physically disabled and has complex medical needs. Oscar was only expected to live for a number of weeks, but recently turned 6 years and is at a point where he needs more advanced levels of physical intervention. Oscar's family is trying to raise funds for two causes:
- To convert his bedroom to make it more disability friendly - adding a ceiling hoist to help lift Oscar from his bed to his chair, and converting a bathroom so his parents don't have to lift him upstairs to wash him, and
- For intensive physical therapy sessions to advance his gross motor development.
Come out and support us on 5th February at 11 am at the Youghal Road Dungarvan. But in the meantime, all donations, big or small will make a big difference to this cause.
