The Joe & Nicole Tiller Care Fund
Not long after Joe and Nicole Tiller opened Bark of the Town Dog Grooming,
I had the privilege of writing an article on their new business for Forsyth Woman
magazine. I was so inspired by the care and love Nicole had for her four-legged
clients and their two-legged owners. She has a passion for what she does and it
comes through from the moment you meet her.
The business turned into a family affair with daughter, Jasmyn, following in her mom’s footsteps, learning grooming from the best. With 23 years of grooming experience and 6 years owning Bark of the Town, Joe and Nicole, with their three kids, were living life and growing their business. But life took an unexpected turn when in July 2018, Joe was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer, uncommon for people his age.
After surgery and chemotherapy, Joe was declared cancer-free in February 2019.
Since then, all of Joe’s CT scans have been clear, giving Joe, Nicole and their family some time to exhale, being out from under their worries. Time passed and things seemed well until emergency surgery on December 22, 2020, with a follow up scan showing no signs for cancer. 2021 was hopefully going to be a good one for the family health wise with the all clear for Joe.
However, the new year didn’t bring what Joe and Nicole had expected, continued good health.
Less than a month after his most recent scan, which was clear, Joe had some pain and a CT scan showed two lesions on his liver.
On February 2, 2021, Joe arrived at the ER with severe abdominal cramping and another scan showed multiple lesions had developed on his liver.
Currently, Joe is hospitalized awaiting biopsy results to determine what cancer
doctors are dealing with now, and as always, Nicole is by his side.
While Nicole and Joe are away from Bark of the Town, the team at the salon, including Joe Jr. and Jasmyn, are stepping up to keep things running for clients. Nicole and Joe are amazed at the outpouring of love and help from everyone during this time.
Their youngest son, Darrius, is currently away serving in the US Navy, training in
nuclear school.
Any funds donated will go to helping with medical co-pays and assisting the family while Nicole is spending time with Joe as he recovers.
Please donate to this wonderful family who give so much to the community and
are in need now of our help.
