Education Fund in Honor of Jerry Potter
The Jerry Potter Family Support Fund
As many of you know Jerry gave COVID a run for its money, but ultimately his body just couldn’t fight anymore. After 60 days of hospital care and one heck of a fight, Jerry has gone home to be with the Lord at only 54 years young.
Jerry lived a life filled with the love. The love he had for his family. The affection he had for his children was unmatched and every time he spoke of them his face lit up with joy and pride. His admiration for his wife Kellie was a lovely thing to watch. Kellie and Jerry’s lives were filled with love above all, even from the early age of 16.
Kellie and Jerry were high school sweethearts and then got married shortly after high school ended. They had 3 amazing children, Josh, Jenna and Macy, and the family was blessed with another addition just 1 year ago. Luke, his grandson, was born and Jerry absolutely adored Luke to pieces.
On the morning of November 26th, Thanksgiving Day, Jerry made the decision to go to the hospital to get medical care after struggling to breathe at home for a few days. He had been quarantining alone in his room trying to keep the virus away from Kellie and the girls.
Sadly by the time he arrived at the hospital, the virus had already done a number on his lungs and body. Days later Jerry was eventually put on a ventilator and remained on that ventilator for most of his two months in the hospital. After several attempts to take him off the ventilator to no avail, the ventilator created more problems than COVID had to begin with. Days turned into weeks which led to a hospital transfer and onto the an ECMO machine. After weeks of being on the ventilator and the ECMO machine combined, they performed a tracheotomy in an attempt to improve his condition. It was to eliminate extra connections coming to and from his body, and therefore an attempt to prevent further infection. Sadly, Jerry was never able to overcome the obstacles COVID threw at his body. He fought like hell for 60 days, but in the end COVID was too strong to battle.
This fundraiser is set up to help Kellie pay for Jenna and Macy’s college costs. 100% of all funds donated will go to directly to their college education.
Jerry now takes on his next and most important role, his families Guardian Angel. Please rest easy Jerry. You will be missed beyond measure.
