The Jazz Record of My Dreams

My name is Adam Levy. I'm a guitarist in New York City.

 

I've been featured on records that you may have heard — by artists such as Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman, Allen Toussaint, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Anaïs Mitchell. I've also released a dozen recordings of my original music (some instrumental, some with singing).

 

I'm now preparing to make my next record. I've been writing lots of music. (Instrumental this time, on the jazzy side.) I've booked a beautiful studio in upstate New York. I've asked two of my all-time favorite musicians — bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Joey Baron — to join me. We'll be recording in mid August.

 

I'm aiming to raise $15,000.

 

$15k may seem like a lot, but it's a realistic number. That will help me pay these esteemed musicians fairly, cover studio expenses (recording, mixing, mastering), hire a designer (it's got to look as good as it sounds), and will include travel/lodging expenses as well (Joey lives in Berlin).

 

I'm using the GoFundMe platform to crowd-fund this record. I've successfully employed similar platforms to fund some of my past recordings. I know it's an excellent way for fans to support new work and for artists to deliver the goods directly to those most interested in it.

 

My ask here is simply this: Donate what you can. The GoFundMe platform doesn't allow me to offer rewards in return for your support, but I plan to share this music with supporters first, before it's available anywhere else.
