The Mike Brain kidney transplant and recovery Fund

Hello. My name is James Ferguson (Ferg ), and I have set up this page for my great-mate, Michael Brain, affectionately known as Brainy. He is doing extremely tough waiting for a kidney transplant, which is being donated by his legendary brother, Bear Brain.

Mike had his dialysis port put in this week and plans to start dialysis on the 30th of Sept; we are hoping we can get a date for the kidney transplant in December this year. However, it may take longer.

Brainy currently has 10% function in both kidneys, together with diabetes and gout. This makes food very hard to manage; if he has too much protein, it is bad for the kidneys, and if he has too many carbs, it's bad for diabetes. As a result, his physical energy and mental health are a daily mountain to climb as he struggles to do the basics of life.

He needs his mates now more than ever as he not only has to get to the Kidney Transplant date, but he also has a callosal 3-month recovery process that will require 24-hour care for a min of 3 months.

A group of us will be on a rooster in the early two weeks, but he will also need professional home care.

Financially, things are really tough. Mike has been unable to Work for the last 12 months, and proceeds from the sale of his house are drying up, making paying the bills difficult. As most of you will know, Briany is a very proud man and is the last person to ask for help, but he seriously needs it now!
