Over the past few months, the fans of Maldon & Tiptree Football Club have had to deal with events that no football fan should have to confront.
In fact, no human being should ever have to deal with these events.
First and foremost, the thoughts of the JFA remain with everyone who has been affected by the ongoing criminal investigation in Barrie and Scott Drewitt- Barlow.
When the DBO completed their takeover of Maldon & Tiptree FC in February 2025, we as a fanbase had been ground down by an apathetic and seemingly uninterested previous owner.
We placed our trust in the DBO and welcomed them into our club.
That trust has been betrayed in the most appalling way.
As a result, we understand that fans have felt like they’ve had to make an impossible choice; continue to support the club on match day and also the management team and players who have put their heads above the parapet, or stay away from home games and not continue to put money into the DBO coffers.
We understand how difficult this choice has been. It’s a choice we ourselves have also had to make.
There is no right or wrong choice. It’s an entirely personal one that can only be dictated by your feelings.
As such, we are setting up this crowd funding exercise. The principal reason is as follows:
It will allow fans who wish to stay away to continue to support the Football Club financially without putting money into the DBO.
Any money raised will be used by the JFA for one of the following:
1. To assist a potential new owner in the hopeful event that a takeover of the Club can be completed.
OR
2. In the event that a takeover cannot be completed and the Club ceases to exist, the money will be used to as a starter fund for a phoenix club.
Our great football club has given us some incredible memories over the years. It has helped us build a community that is there for each other both in the stands and in our personal lives.
Our community- along with our football club- faces a grave threat to its very existence.
Now is our time to come together and fight. Not only for the club we love, but also for each other.
