The James Gould soccer scholarship program

Hello,

On the behalf of the Gould family, we would like to continue the legacy of our beloved James who dedicated his life to helping others through soccer.

From a very young age, James was extremely passionate for the game of soccer. His love for soccer began in London, England as a young boy. It wasn't until moving to the United States, where he began coaching and realized the fullfilment that coaching young players would bring to him. He mentored them and took on the role of "coach" to be one of the most important roles in a young childs upbringing. James believed that all young children truly needed was somebody who loved and believed in them. He realized that children just needed someone to be there for them and uplift their spirits when they needed it most.

It became very clear to our family that our beloved husband and father was called to help the development of young human beings. He believed wholeheartedly that mentoring young children was where the greatest need was. To him, this was much more than a game of soccer. This was about the game of life and James really made that his personal mission to help as many students as he could on his journey of being a coach for over 20 years.

James was a very humble, silent giant kind of man. When nobody was watching he discretely did so many acts of service to help in anyway he could. Our family would like to continue to honor this legacy he has left behind.

On June 14th, 2022, James lost his battle to cancer and was called home. The way his community of players has rallied behind him and our family has carried us through many challenging moments throughout his cancer journey. It is time for our family to do something special that we know James had always wanted to do for the community of young players.

The Gould family would like to help fund as many soccer players as we can, so that every child can have the opportunity to do what all children love to do, play and have fun!

James lives on through all of us. His legacy lives on in every player who encountered him and all of the future players who will know that James truly cared.

We would like to thank each and everyone of you who has shown unconditional love towards our James. We miss him dearly, but we also know that when we see so many players, now grown up, his legacy lives on through each of you. We love you all.
