The Jakes Family
Hi Everyone, I don’t even know how to write this. My dear friend of 35 years, Stacie, her son Joseph (14) and daughter Emma (9) have suffered an unimaginable loss. A few weeks ago, Jeff thought that he had a sinus infection. Within a couple of days, he began running a fever and of course tested positive for COVID-19. After a few days, he began to worsen, and went to get an infusion of monoclonal antibodies. While at the clinic, his oxygen saturation dropped to critical levels, and before they could give him the infusion, he was put on an ambulance to the ER. Jeff spent weeks on the ventilator, but has just passed away. The shock of this news is simply inconceivable to everyone who loves him. He did not have any underlying health conditions.
Jeff Jake was a Senior Specialist with Chick-fil-A Headquarters and a member of Salem Baptist Church.
When Stacie is not homeschooling her two children, she is volunteering for her community, active in her church family, and always serving and loving others. She desperately needs as much support as her community can possibly give right now. Please consider honoring Jeff’s memory with generous contributions to provide relief for the short and long-term financial stress his family is now under.
Jeff, words cannot possibly describe the pain that we all feel, having lost you. I hope you know that you made this world brighter, during your 42 years of life. I know that anyone who knows you, has belly laughed until they cried at your dumb jokes and silly little voices. No one can “Elmo” like Jeff Jakes. You were such a wonderful daddy. Not everyone can say that they were so engaged with their children, so childlike and fun. I KNOW they will hold those memories forever, and they will continue to grow into the kind and genuinely loving human beings that they are today, just like their daddy.
No one will ever, ever, ever forget you, Jeff Jakes. We will never forget the sound of your laugh, even though Covid took it from us. Jeff, I can still hear you howling hysterically with laughter over your poor beautiful wife breaking the family sled, after a failed attempt at a running jump. I hope you are somewhere perfect now, “feasting like a king”, as you always said.
Don’t worry, we will take care of Stacie and your babies. We love you so much, Stacie, Joseph, and Emma.
