The Jackman Fund
Donation protected
At the end of June 2025, the North East's father of cyber security, Phil Jackman will be retiring. I know it's something you've all heard before, but this time he really is leaving the working world for good.
Phil's legacy is one we want to remember and as such, we're creating the Jackman Fund - a fund that will administer small grants to young people, career changers, veterans and career returners looking to get into cyber security.
As you know, Phil is a passionate advocate of the sector and his beloved North East. He sees cyber as a way to create sustainable employment opportunities for future generations in the region, and this fund would help those people get into their new career.
Phil tells us he has everything he needs and doesn't want a retirement gift. We feel this will be a much more fitting tribute than a watch or golf clubs to acknowledge the work he's done and how he's supported our sector over the years.
If Phil has ever introduced you to a business contact, made time to understand the challenges you're facing, helped you get an idea off the ground or simply just been a cheerleader who's championed your career in cyber, please consider contributing to the fund.
CyberNorth will manage this fund and all money raised will be distributed to people looking to get into the sector. We'll be making an announcement on the fund over the coming weeks. Until then, please keep this under your hat and don't share with Phil - we want it to be a surprise that we share with him at his retirement party (CyberNorth summer party) on Thursday 12 June.
Thanks
Danielle
