Get our keiki outside, inspire them to love learning and keep their curiosity alive, weave agriculture into their everyday lives- this is our Mission.
The Island Māla is a branch of the Nonprofit, Hanai Collective, on the North Shore of Oahu. Together, we bridge agriculture, education and community to create a more sustainable and well-fed future for our community.
Founder, Bria Arauz, created the Farm School and Homeschool Support program for children & families who are looking for an engaging and nature-inspired program for learning. Children have unique pace, ability and interests; and The Island Māla strives to support them where they are. Our Farm School is nestled on a small vegetable farm where the keiki are immersed in the dirt & plants. They learn all about growing food, selling food at their own Keiki Farmers Market and preparing/cooking their own harvest. We dive into hands-on activities each day through a cross-curricular approach; allowing fundamental skill practice.
We are continuously accepting support in covering supply costs. We are working hard to create a beautiful and safe Māla(garden) for the keiki!
Here is what donations will go towards:
Gardening Supplies(seeds, pots, soil/compost, dripline, worm hotel), School Supplies(pens, paper, art supplies, books, etc.), tables, shelving, shed, first aid supplies, rug, monthly tech fees, Scholarships for families and monthly potty rental fees.
Thank you so much for considering a donation to support Hawaii's agricultural education, assisting confident lifelong learners and bringing our community together!
