G’day friends and family!
As the founder and managing director of The International Brother and Sisters House (IBSH), it is my great privilege to work with our wonderful board and help manage projects across multiple countries.
Since 2013, we have been working hard towards delivering our mission, and that is:
We currently operate in Tanzania, Nepal and have recently started to support some children in the Phillipines.
Each year, my board and I have to fundraise close to $20,000 USD to ensure we continue the support in the countries. We like to do acts that show we are very passionate about the projects we manage and the people we support - from walking across Vietnam and Cambodia to riding across Nepal, we have all pushed our bodies to the limits for IBSH.
After moving down to Mornington Peninsula in VIC mid last year, I’ve decided to walk 80km in one day (if my aging body permits). The walk should take about 20 hours and I’ll be completing it on Friday Feb 9, 2024. My starting point will be Portsea Hotel to Mt Martha Beach and back. If anyone is around the area and wants to join for a portion then please reach out to me directly on 0477014068.
My fundraising goal for the walk is $5,000 AUD so if you feel so inclined please give generously.
This call out is specifically about our charity’s current program in Tanzania, Africa, which is where all donations from this campaign will go. Through this program we fully finance the education and healthcare of 48 underprivileged kids across 22 different Tanzanian families. School technically is not free in Tanzania, as the school fees, supplies, meals, transportation, and/or housing can pose a huge economic challenge to families living on only a dollar or two per day. For primary school kids this amounts to $175-250 per year; for high school kids that board it can cost ~$500 per year; and for kids in university approximately $1,000-2,000 USD/year. Sometimes struggling households end up paying for school costs at the expense of buying food. Other times they might pull their kids out of school completely. Our level of support aims to help these families and allow these kids to strive for the bright futures they deserve. In addition to funding the education and healthcare of these kids, IBSH also supports the families by providing some food subsidies, housing, and microfinancing small businesses. Any donation you can make towards IBSH is greatly appreciated and goes directly to the kids and families we support!
Thank you in advance and much love,
Josh Porteous

Since 2013, we have been working hard towards delivering our mission, and that is:
- Work for the relief of poverty by providing low cost housing to underprivileged youths affected by poverty in Tanzania and Nepal. We provide an education and activities to disadvantaged young people to help them gain skills in life.
- Work for the relief of sickness by forming strong partnerships with local government agencies in Tanzania to assist in providing better HIV medication for sick and underprivileged children.
- Work for the relief of suffering in collaboration with foundations in Nepal and Tanzania to construct homes for the disadvantaged and schools for the uneducated.
