“Flood” Mrs. Barker With Our Love!
Donation protected
To the wonderful Bonsall, Pala, Fallbrook, San Diego County community: over the weekend (4/13-4/14) a pipe at Bonsall Elementary burst and severely flooded Mrs. Barker’s classroom. As a 30-year-veteran teacher her life’s work lay within those walls. She and other teachers, with the help of an incredible PTA and volunteers had until 11 a.m. this morning (4/15) to salvage anything she could and move to a temporary classroom before her room was closed to begin flood remediation. As a teacher and parent of one of Mrs. Barker’s former students I can attest to just how teacher-funded her classroom truly was. From the decorations to the extensive classroom library to the project and art supplies Mrs. Barker poured her heart (and wallet) into her classroom. We cannot replace the destroyed memories but we can lessen the blow by providing funding for Mrs. Barker to replace her destroyed classroom supplies. The district will help, but the insurance process will be slow and very limited. There will likely be a low claim limit for personal items (i.e. all the materials Mrs. Barker purchased with her own money). This is standard procedure in these types of situations, but still devastating to the teacher. Please help Mrs. Barker rebuild her beautiful classroom and overcome the devastation of losing the artifacts from 30 years of dedication to our children! We will not be able to alleviate the emotional toll of this loss but we can certainly help alleviate the financial burden. All funds will go directly to Mrs. Barker for supplies and taxes that may be withheld. Thank you!
