THE IMAGINATION MACHINE - Help Us Stay Open!

Dear Friends,
The Imagination Machine has been serving students through writing assemblies since 1981. Every year we visit over 400 schools in California.
Because our program relies on schools being in session, the quarantine closures effectively halted our business almost entirely. This happened during our busiest season and over half our annual income was forfeitted due to those closures. Accordingly, all of our actors are out of work and our employees have been furloughed. This massive derailment has caused a strain felt throughout our entire company.
We have done our absolute best to pivot in this crisis. Within a week of the school closures a virtual assembly was developed. This effort was met with moderate success, but it was clear that we didn’t have the infrastructure for this new type of assembly. We need to revamp and take the time to construct an online assembly that is both marketable and resilient. COVID-19 does not appear to be slowing down, and schools have already announced that distance learning will remain in place until the end of the calendar year, if not longer.
Our company will not survive these closures unless we’re able to build a strong digital assembly and pay our staff and actors.
We still believe that the arts can stay in schools during this quarantine. Assemblies like ours are still necessary for a well-rounded education, and this kind of fun, social program is crucial in these tense and uncertain times.
Please donate if you can and help spread the word.
With love and gratitude,
The Imagination Machine
