Just weeks after retiring from USPS and driving all their belongs to Colorado to begin their long over due retirement #Springfire hit Fort Garland, Colorado and they ran with one vehicle, their two dogs and the clothes on their backs.
On Wednesday, June 27, my in-laws sat in a community center and prayed that the 400 acres of fire would somehow pass their oasis. That was not the case, on Friday, June 29, the fire had grown to 25,000 Acres. A news helicopter flew over their area in Forbes Park and we were able to determine by the layout of the streets that their house was GONE! Devastated by the news and the fact they had just lost their home to Hurricane Harvey 2017. Their possessions and the cabin was what they had left to start in Colorado.
We as a family want to do something for them and that is why I decided to start this gofundme page for them, to help them somewhat rebuild, and let them know we love them and that we are there for them.
Since they do not have a home as of today (a dear friend is helping with temporary residence in Taos) funds are the best way to assist.
*As of today’s date they have not been able to reach their home yet and the fire which has now been ruled as arson has grown to 95,000 acres.
