My name is Zach. I’m from Washington, DC, a city that I love very much. I also love nature and the environment. Since a kid, I always had a passion for understanding how the earth worked, how it’s been damaged, and how we can heal our beautiful planet. And that is why I’m here. I want to make my community a cleaner, healthier place to live.
I grew up in the Northeast sector of the city as a Ward 5 resident. Now, I reside in Ward 8, one of the areas Black citizens were subjected to reside. Here in Ward 8, residents experience high poverty, food deserts, over policing, and other obstacles.
Despite all the challenges my people persevere through, I still believe it is imperative to live in a clean environment…that is the least all of us can do. I don’t want the kids at Hendley Elementary School to grow up around trash and other filth.
Since last year, I have already begun picking up trash around the neighborhood. This summer, I want to take it up a notch and clean up multiple blocks in the area! However, I am in need some better supplies so that I can increase efficiency and capacity in my work. Items such as contractor bags and a rolling trash bin would be monumental for me.
This work is also dedicated to my late cousin, Tyrone M. Wilson, who spent his free time cleaning up the same neighborhood many years ago.
Thank you for your consideration and support!
Peace
