He was heard pleading with several officers "You may as well kill me".
This is clear bias against a homeless man and certain dog breeds. There's no question that the situation would have been different if the man was well dressed and walking two labradors.
Homeless people have as much right to humanity as the rest of us, and dogs deserve to live. A dog to a homeless person is a lifeline and a best friend. If you are down on your luck for whatever reason you do not deserve your best friends to be shot dead on the street by the people are supposed to serve and protect us. The Met police are the only ones who are out of control.
This fundraiser won't bring his best friends back, but it may help him get a break and help him with any other companion animals he wishes to take care of.
On 7th May in Limehouse, London a group of 8 Met police officers shot and killed 46 year old Louis Turnbull's two dogs in the street. They also tasered him ot the ground. Extremely distressing footage of the situation shows the dogs on a short lead posing no immediate threat to the group of police surrounding the dogs and the man.
They were called by a women who was allegedly attacked by the dogs. The women did not need any medical assistance and an ambulance was not called.
Eye witnesses have said the following;
"I can tell you for a fact that the dog didn’t attack the woman, it attacked another dog. A little brown dog.
"It didn't seem proportionate. It is beyond belief."
“Me and another woman came out when we heard what was going on and took the dog away.
“I was scared going to get it, but they didn’t attack me or the woman.”
"I don’t think the woman who owned the dog got attacked by the dogs, but she did get tangled in the lead and fell over. I see those dogs everyday - they are always here with the owner."
“About 20 minutes before I was petting them. They never have seemed aggressive before.”
"Some of the other neighbours were shouting 'it's disgusting' and 'we're not in America'."
The Met said in a statement "A man was arrested in connection with the incident for having a dog dangerously out of control and assault offences. He has been taken into police custody."
