Support Our Mission for Accountability and Transparency in Ontario’s Publicly Funded Schools

This journey began over two years ago, and it has forever changed me and my family. My name is Anwar Knight, and I’m the founder of the Hold Schools Accountable Parent Network. My son was assaulted at school, two bones in his arm were broken and the school attempted to cover it up. They lied to us and refused to cooperate with police until a court order forced them to.

As a family, we vowed to be a catalyst for change. We need safety, not secrecy. We need transparency, not cover-ups. And we need real reform to the Education Act.

Since launching HSA, a tragic reality has come to light. Thousands of families have been impacted. Children have been hurt. And teachers, administrators, and other school staff — many at their breaking point have come forward in unprecedented numbers to support us, trusting HSA to share what they know. They are revealing more and more of the dangerous dysfunction happening behind closed doors in our publicly funded schools, exposing systemic failures, normalized violence, and cover-ups.

This extraordinary level of insider support is unlike anything we’ve seen before and underscores just how urgent this crisis is.

Thousands of parents have also connected with us, sharing stories of children harmed, families ignored, and educators suffering in silence. Violence in Ontario schools has surged, with a 77% increase in violent incidents since 2018, and school boards have normalized it. We must hold them accountable.

For too long, school boards have acted as judge and jury, conducting closed-door investigations with no oversight and no obligation to communicate with the families directly affected. Parents sounding the alarm are ignored, not by accident, but by design.

HSA exists for every student and family dismissed, ignored, or stonewalled while advocating for their child’s safety and well-being. Together, we’ve gathered thousands of petition signatures to amend the Education Act, met with the Premier and Minister of Education, and exposed willful negligence across multiple Ontario school boards.

We have become the Provincial voice for accountability and transparency, but this work comes with costs. Safety for our children is not political — it is a human right.
