Boards for the Bored Campaign
The Hive with State of the Skate, host of Thrasher Thursdays, in partnership with The Boarding Haus presents our new campaign, Boards for the Bored!
The times of social distancing have created stagnancy in some youth in our community. The Hive would like to deliver a pro-active tool of recreation we like to call a skateboard. As a community we can give four wheels of freedom for those who are lacking engagement in activity. Skateboarding helps facilitate individuality, an active lifestyle, determination and positive progression.

“Our research shows that through skateboarding, skaters develop the ability to communicate and build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. Skaters are excellent critical thinkers and problem-solvers who view success from a more communal perspective. They bring that insight into other areas of their lives, which is valuable to any university or organization.”
To contribute to The Board for the Bored Campaign please give a monetary gift or any gently used and functional skateboard parts you may already have laying around the house. Every $12 donated, we will put $4 towards purchasing new gear from The Boarding Haus! If you have gear you would like to donate, please email [email redacted] and we will pick up.
Outreach to local youth has begun and we have found multiple youth that can truly benefit from a skateboard during this time. Please help us in giving them four wheels to freedom!
SPONSOR A HONEYCOMB ON OUR HIVE WALL!
For $200 or more you can sponsor a 2ft X 2 ft hexagon space on our Hive Wall. You can put your business name or logo, your family name or in Memory Of. We can also have you paint it however you want or have one of our youth participants paint it! If you would like to Sponsor a Hive Wall Space, please make a note on your gift to ensure we reserve you a space!
OR GIVE ANY AMOUNT YOU CAN, EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS US A LOT!
Just as bees work together in every effort for the greater good of the entire hive, we intend to operate in the same manner. The Hive Durango will provide a safe haven for local youth, and community members; a place where they may discover their authentic selves via expressive movement and creative outlets. We will provide a place for youth to explore life skills through various recreational opportunities, art and music within a space of belonging and self accomplishment.
To help fund The Hive means you get to contribute to the forward momentum of our Community. The Hive will emerge as a Community project led by all. The Hive staff will strive to engage the youth and Community members of Durango in daily programs that will inspire them to explore their passions to create and pollinate progress throughout the region.
