The Historic Select Theater first opened in 1920 and since that first ticket was sold, and that first tub of popcorn was sold, the Select has never stopped operations and has shown movies from 1920 to today. 

Today however not only does the Select show movies, but hosts live play productions, along with live symphonic band performances and MORE. 

With this being our 100th year, time has taken its toll on the building just as it does on everything.  This historic landmark is in need  of minor repairs to its neon tower, marquee lighting, and front facade.  With the current pandemic situation, we have been forced to divert money to other operational costs due to us being closed from the Governor's Order.  But now, we are back, showing movies every weekend to small crowds.

What we need right now...  is YOU.  

The Historic Select Theater is owned and operated by the  Lake Country Playhouse, a Texas non-profit organization that has the goal of providing cultural entertainment in the Mineola and surrounding areas.  Right now, we are asking for donations to help us perform the repairs needed to this landmark of Mineola.  So that she can see the next 100 years!!   All donations are gladly accepted and appreciated!
