Kyle was diagnosed with stage 4 bone cancer in his left mandible in January 2020. It was a very sudden shift in our lives as we have grappled with his diagnosis. He had an extensive 10 hour surgery on March 16th, to remove the tumor and reconstruct his jaw and jaw joint. It was followed by 8 days in ICU. We spent the next several weeks in and out of doctors offices and hospitals prepping for his treatment. Kyle had Radiation & Chemotherapy from April 23rd to June 10th. Kyle had 2 clean scans following treatment. His last clean CT scan was October 9th. In late October he started getting lumps near the upper layer of his skin on his neck. They began to multiple and some even showed up on his cheek this past weekend. We met with his surgeon on November 16th and had a biopsy done. We found out on November 18th that his cancer has returned/metastasized to his skin. It is the same type (squamous cell) of cancer he had removed from his jaw. We have been referred to the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to meet with a more specialized team. We will update once we know more.
As many of you know Kyle is very active. He loves to ski, bike, hike and camp. Which was a very prominent part of our decision 5 years ago to pick up and move to the PNW. He is also a foodie and beer snob and we have made many friends here because of that. It has been difficult as he can no longer enjoy his favorite things for a while. I honestly never thought I would have to create a GFM. we greatly appreciate you coming by to support us in our time of need. We will use any money donated for medical bill's, medical treatments, transportation to treatments & groceries.
Thank you for all of the support and well wishes!
XO, Danelle
