The Hight Family

On Wednesday, June 26th, tragedy struck the Hight home. In the late hours of the night, their family home was destroyed by a fire. The house has been in their family for many years. Over the last few years, Amber and Brad have spent many, many days rebuilding and remodeling their beautiful home.

Many people know the Hight family. Amber Hight, a kindergarten teacher at Chireno ISD, is one of the most loving and giving souls. She has poured her heart out into mission work and into her community. In fact, Amber and her two children were in Lexington, South Carolina on a mission trip when they got the news. When Amber heard about the fire, she said, “This may not be good, but God is good all of the time.” Being the humble, loving servant she is, she spent the night thanking God that her children were not home when it happened and thanking everyone for their love and compassion.

Over the last 12 years, Amber has impacted the lives of so many children, especially her own. Her and Brad’s two kids, Jadey and Brendon, are both kind and giving children who have spent the last week repairing roofs for strangers and showing the love of God to those who need it the most. Every summer, the Hight family travels to do mission work, but they don’t stop there. They also spend every summer working on homes in their own community of San Augustine, Texas.

Brad, who works for TxDOT, was in the home asleep when it happened. When Brad woke up, he saw that both Jadey and Brendon’s rooms were engulfed in flames. It’s by the grace of God that the two children were busy working on others’ homes when the fire broke out.

The Hight family lost their home, Brad’s truck and motorcycle, and Jadey’s vehicle, none of which were insured. Right now, this family needs the love they so freely give to those around them. All proceeds go to help rebuilding their home and their lives.
