The Hidden Agendas Behind the Plan to Save Potter Valley

I'm Elise Cox, editor of MendoLocal.News. I'm raising money for an investigative journalism project: Who is the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District and what is their interest in water from Northern California? Why have they suddenly expressed interest in buying the Potter Valley Project from PG&E? Are they really interested in helping out local farmers in Mendocino County? Or do they have a hidden agenda? The district is pursuing $500 million in new projects, including the estimated $100 million cost of addressing PFA contamination of a major water source. Rates are being raised dramatically. How would taking over the Potter Valley Project affect existing ratepayers and how would the existing infrastructure project affect the cost of water to Potter Valley farmers should the project become part of EVMWD? Is the Dos Rios Dam history about to repeat itself? I've worked as an investigative reporter for organizations like U.S. News & World Report, Knight Ridder, and the San Jose Mercury News.
