The Hershbergers Kick Cancer
Donation protected
Anna Hershberger, and her family (husband, Dustin, and kids, Lydia, Ellie, and Owen), need our help.
Anyone who knows me knows that the past year and a half has been incredibly challenging. In August 2021, my wife, Nicole, passed away. Then, just months after Nicole's death, we learned that Nicole's Aunt, Anna Hershberger, was diagnosed with Stage 1B invasive ductile carcinoma breast cancer. Anna and Nicole were like sisters, and they shared equally beautiful souls. Anna's diagnosis seemed like another unfair blow to our extended family.
But Anna met the challenge head-on. Anna had a lumpectomy in July, and in August she had another surgery to have a port placed for chemotherapy infusions. Anna started chemotherapy the next day. She is in the middle of 16 brutal rounds of chemotherapy. In January, Anna will have another surgery to remove the port, followed by 5 additional weeks of radiation. After radiation, she will be on a hormone blocker treatment for the next 5-10 years, with additional side effects.
Sometimes life can be unfair, challenging, and disheartening. But I've learned that life can also be unexpectedly beautiful, and it has a way of helping you find meaning and connections in unexpected ways. For my family, the Hershbergers were there for us from day 1. They helped show us that beauty. Now, they need our support. In the face of these difficult times, we can show Anna and her family the unexpected beauty that life sometimes breeds from tragedy.
And they need our help. The Hershbergers have endured countless expenses over the past year, completely depleting their medical savings. Even with insurance, the deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums can be crippling. On January 1st, everything resets, with more expenses on the way. Cancer has made life expensive in other ways too: extra driving, parking, eating out, and countless other expenses. And its not just the financial costs. Days spent in the hospital, stress, canceled plans, and less time with friends and family.
The family deserves a break. To celebrate Anna beating cancer, Anna and Dustin want to take the kids on a 4-day family trip to Chicago for Spring break. They will have lots to celebrate.
With your help, we can reduce the financial stress they face and help give them a glimpse of what makes life so beautiful.
Thank you!!
