I took what I thought at the time, was a very calculated risk in 2019. In April 2019, I ventured and sought out to find my own space to finally create a healthy oasis to share with friends, family and my little community of Jenkintown PA, a Philadelphia Suburb. With my life partner, in June our dreams came true and we found the perfect spot to build a cozy space for me to handcraft teas, sell loose herbs, tinctures, elixirs and share my knowledge and love of alternative medicine through nutrition with teas, decoctions and quick healthy bites. After 6 long stressful but exilerating months of real estate negotiations, Borough&County red tape, permits, licenses, renovations, we FINALLY hosted our first Bridal Shower 02/15/2020 and opened our doors to the general public March 1st 2020 for our grand opening of the Herb Shop and Tea Lounge at 747 Yorkway Place Jenkintown PA 19046. Woooooot!!! I drained my retirement funds, my partner his stock portfolio to invest in our dream. Anyone who knows us, understands we don't come from money. We are a true mom and pop shop. Two people who worked their asses off, without inheritances, investors, or handouts. Then March 14th BAM... Pandemic. Crickets for weeks... Limited customers, limited ability to create revenue to cover costs... Our mortgage, utilities, retirement loan, still need to be paid... This was/is devastating. That being said, it pains me to ask for help but we have tried all routes supposedly available but since we have Zero proof of past or future profitability since we only opened 02/15/2020, so apparently we don't qualify for any government funding or loans. Zip zero ziltch nadda WTF. Listen.. , No one owes us damn thing, it was a risk we took to open up our business and we get that. We don't expect anything and never have. But please, instead of buying that bullshit 'thing' you don't need off Amazon for the 10second high you get opening the box, reconsider donating to a business in your community that is providing products and services that help support a more sustainable living. We care about your health and well-being. We hope we survive to continue to serve our friends, family and community. Xoxo
