In Loving Memory of Hector Soto: Please Support “Mr. Soto’s Legacy Fund”
For over 40 years, Hector Soto (aka “Mr. Soto”) dedicated his career to inspiring young minds to achieve their greatest potential. From Puerto Rico to Hartford to Boston, Hector’s lessons left an indelible impression on the life of every student who had the privilege of sitting in his classroom. Hector’s generosity also knew no bounds, often spending long hours tutoring students and mentoring other teachers. He also treated everyone with kindness and concern, and he could always be counted on to listen intently without judgment, to be a shoulder to cry on, and to greet you with a warm hug after a long day.
Hector was also acutely aware of the persistent financial challenges that students face in order to have equitable access to a college education. Every school year, he would fill a shopping cart with supplies for his students, out of his own pocket. It is in this spirit, and in his loving memory, that we ask for your support to establish a fund that will help aspiring college students with “micro grants” to support the often overlooked out-of-pocket costs that are required to be successful in higher education: things like textbooks and writing materials, a laptop or a T-pass, whatever each individual student needs to achieve their dreams!
So ask yourself, what would Mr. Soto do?
