After a deadly virus known as The Haze causes society to collapse, Peter is separated from his wife and child amidst a violent city protest. Quarantined and alone, Peter hopes to find his family at a distant safe zone located in the mountains.

He leaves the city and travels across the Canadian plains, but is slowed down after his car breaks down. Despite having to make the rest of his way on foot, he is determined to find his family.

As night falls, he eventually seeks shelter at a remote farmhouse, reluctantly taken in by a wary couple.

As he stays there, he comes across a horrific secret they have hidden from him. They are cannibals who have killed and eaten others, and they plan to do the same to him.

The couple confronts Peter, almost killing him as he narrowly escapes a violent struggle.

The Haze is a cinematic horror/drama presented by students in SAIT's Film and Video Production program. Ambitious in scope, the film employs every tool we have access to through the program.

This project dares to push creative and technical boundaries by producing a film that challenges us student filmmakers to operate at a professional level while delivering a visually striking, resonant story.

Outside of SAIT's resources, we will require funding for the following:
