"Education is the food of youth, the delight of old age, the ornament of prosperity, the refuge and comfort of adversity, and the provocation to grace in the soul."
- Saint Augustine
Our grandparents believed deeply in the power of education. They instilled in their children, and later their grandchildren, the value of prioritizing education and allowing it to become a gateway for opportunity and generational advancement. As a result, our family, filled with educators and academics, made a similar commitment to help others who could benefit from this guidance. Since the passing of our grandfather, Robert James, in 2009, we have committed to giving a yearly monetary gift to a student in financial need. Now, with the passing of our beloved matriach, Harriet Frances James, we wish to establish an official scholarship fund.
The Harriet Frances and Robert James Scholarship will be awarded annually to two minority students in financial need that demonstrate academic excellence. It is our hope that with your donations, and our family's contributions, we will be able to award one rising high school freshman and one rising college freshman, monetary aid to be used towards tuition expenses, books, supplies, transportation or living expenses.
