Hello everyone . Myself and four others (Andy, Sal, Ian and Jake) are running the Grizzly on March 8th, 2026 in aid of Seaton Hospice at home.

For those of you that don’t know what The Grizzly is it’s a 20 mile run along the undulating coastline from Seaton to Branscombe via Beer …. And back. Its described as a brutal multi terrain run and features amongst other obstacles ‘the Bog of Doom’ . It’s going to be incredibly tough and for most of us taking part, the biggest personal physical challenge yet.

So why have we chosen to do it? I wanted a way to raise funds for the wonderful charity that I work for, Seaton Hospice at home. We provide palliative, end of life care for our patients and their families enabling them to die at home. I wanted some support to take on this big challenge and so some of my amazing friends have agreed to take part with me!

Andy has run this a few times before
( absolute legend) so showing us the ropes. But this will be the first time he has run it while Hellie ( wife) is also a nurse working for Seaton H@H .

Sal is a fellow nurse who works in Exeter and has endured many runs over the years with me. This is the biggest yet so took a bit of persuading but being the hero she is, she said yes.

Ian has had personal experience of what a difference Palliative care services can make to families in the community and relished the opportunity to give back. This makes his contribution incredibly special.

Jake has also run the route before and his mum is a nurse manager within the Seaton community so he couldnt say no! He is the youngest of the team so likely to run rings around the rest of us.

So that makes up the small but mighty team. Training has started and is only going to get harder. So please dig deep for anything you feel you can give. Every penny is so appreciated.

With love

Laura, Andy, Sal, Ian and Jake
