Hi, my name is Sandra and I am fundraising for my daughter, Brianna, her husband, Anton, and their son.
A little over a year ago, Anton knew something was wrong. He felt dizzy, lightheaded, had fainting spells and was always very tired. He went to the doctor numerous times and had all kinds of tests done including an ultrasound of the carotid artery in his neck. No one could give him any answers.
The Saturday before Easter he went in for his annual eye exam and it was discovered that he had no left peripheral vision. The doctor told him that meant one of two things: either he had a stroke or he has a brain tumor. He was then referrred to a specialist who sent him for a CT scan at the hospital. Instead, the ER doctor felt it best to have an MRI done and they discovered he had a pituitary brain tumor. He was then referred to a neurosurgeon who determined the tumor was the size of two golf balls and was putting pressure on the optic nerves on each side of his nose. There was also a cyst attached to the top of tumor that was pushing against his spinal cord fluid.
Anton underwent surgery on May 30, 2023. The neurosurgeon along with the ENT doctor were able to safely remove a good portion of the tumor. There is a possibilty of a second surgery since the cyst still remains. They were not able to remove the cyst due to it's location and the type of surgery he had. There will be a second MRI in about a month to determine any necessary next steps.
Surgery was the only option and that requires two months of recovery. Anton is very restricted on being able to do anything. Brianna is his care taker during the duration of his recovery. During this time, there is no income coming in as Anton was the primary income earner. This young family could use some help financially so they have one less thing to worry about. Please consider lending a helping hand!
