In A Fight To Raise Awareness For Mental Illness And How The Trail Across The Country Can Help So Many Connect And Live A Healthier Life

Documented Through Photos - Video & Live Feeds For Full Length Video Only Available to Donors & Book Options

Over almost anything, I am a cyclist. And I have been a cyclist fighting with mental "illness" (god I hate that term) for years. From the darkest of places, I have continued to ride thousands of miles per year.

More than all of that though, I believe we all have the ability to do something extraordinary in our lives. It's just about making the choice. From helping other individuals to riding bikes across the country, from Washington State to Washington DC using the Great America Trail Network

So Who Am I? Really no Different than you

Father of two children now adults. Began riding and racing mountain Bikes in 1990. Using the $500 left to me from my grandmother I Purchased my first Mountain Bike. A Red Garry Fisher. Mountain Biking Kept me away from the drugs I was falling into. It gave me a reason to get through each day and not give up. Riding became my freedom.

Fast forward, I kept racing, world cups, Road. Training in Tucson, Durango, And here in New England.

I have ridden 200 miles in a single day taking 11 1/2 hours to  a 30 mile ride where I had been found unconscious in the middle of the road, landing myself in the trauma center as a John Doe.

Mile after mile, crash after crash, I still ride. I still push because this, this is my freedom. And it doesn't stop there. So be it road, mountain and even Racing BMX, Bikes Are Life.

As years pass by I have lost friends, acquaintances, and fellow group riders to bike accidents (most including automobiles). In this time, while living on the Farmington river trail I have begun to enjoy what the trail means and makes possible to so many. Some days it may be a cool down, other days my friend Jay and I may just go ride 20 miles talking about life after 40 as a divorced father. (usually though we are just cracking jokes and pedaling the miles). It's the trail though, that connects its users with communities and nature in a peaceful safe environment.

And it's time to bring awareness to what the trail system can mean to our country.

Think about a trail that you can walk, run, or ride. From Washington State to Washington DC. The communities connected and the lives made healthier.

That is, the Great American Trail. And in summer 2021, to bring awareness to not just the trail, but to mental health, I will be riding it. From one side of it to the other.

Come along on the journey for a mile, or a 100 or simply follow along as the time grows closer and enjoy the footage from the ride and the book to close out the story.

I know these times aren't easy, any donation is so greatly appreciated and will help toward every mile ridden.
