The Great NMRN Bake off 2024

On Tuesday 8th Oct, The National Museum of The Royal Navy, Events team are holding The Great NMRN bake off in aid of The Royal Navy Royal Marines charity. Logistically, it’s not possible for all of mine & Petes incredible friends, family & shipmates to attend as we are holding it in our private gallery space in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. But I wanted to include you all in the fundraising aspect if you are able to help.

Late last year, my whole world fell apart. My incredible husband Pete, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. He collapsed at the Harbour train station and despite the best efforts of the paramedics and air ambulance, they couldn’t save him & he passed away shortly afterwards, this was caused by a pulmonary embolism.

Pete proudly served in the RN as a Seaman Specialist and had done for 27 years. He adored being in the Royal Navy & being a sailor and shipmate (as well as being the 5th unofficial member of the NMRN events team).

As the 1st anniversary of his passing creeps ever closer, I wanted to do something in his name and honour his memory. I have no desire to run another marathon (no really!) or abseil off the Spinnaker Tower, so I thought I’d stick to what I know best….. cake! The RNRMC are an incredible charity, who not only supports serving sailors and their families but also veterans, who are in need of help. A very worthy cause. I would be incredibly grateful if you could spare anything by way of a donation. To honour the kindest, amazing, dit spinning, rum drinking, fancy dress loving, Capri and Robin reliant driving man, who I loved more than anything in the world.
