The Great Escape from Suck-dakota

Hello friends and family of the lovely Kara.

We are raising funds to get Kara and Lucian the heck out of Suck-dakota! South Dakota is not a State where our friend Kara can achieve hopes and dreams and is not a State where her child will have a robust education or a network of awesome nerdy little kid-friends. SD is not a land with awesome job opportunities. It does not have robust transit. South Dakota is not a State where people go to heal and better themselves. I'm not being overly dramatic when I say that South Dakota could kill my friend. We need to get her out and Massachusetts as an option is pretty shiny.

We already knew that South Dakota was lacking in things that we wished for our good and awesome friend, but this last year with the pandemic was the final straw to break the back. [insert my personal feelings here] -> South Dakota has a blatant disregard for health and community safety, coupled with the far-right ideological politics and a governor who actively harms her community.

Kara and Lucian have been offered a place with our close friend in Massachusetts. Our friend Jessica has ample space in her house to welcome in Kara and Lu and provide them with their own space. Our goal is to relocate Kara and Lu out to Eastern Massachusetts in August. . Lu will have children to socialize and play with. Lu will get enrolled in school and may actually learn the theory of evolution by his teachers ;-) and have access to more up-to-date text books. He's very interested in STEM courses and is a smart, silly cookie. This will open many opportunities for him.

We are looking to get them a POD or other container-style moving service and plane tickets, as well as a little money in the bank to address any outstanding bills and charges in SD and to have some money towards any new essentials needed when they land in Massachusetts. This move will reconnect Kara with her community and give her supports that she needs as a single mother to do more with her life than just scrape by in some gawd-awful apartment in Aberdeen.

If we all pitch in $30-$50 we can get her and Lu moved with less financial stresses.
