The Grant Boys Put Others First - Marshall Fire
Donation protected
Our friends Jason Grant and Leanne Othen, along with their three sons Liam, Jasper, and Conor lost their home and everything they own in the 6,000-acre Marshall Fire in Boulder County, CO on December 30, 2021. Leanne and Jason were at the hockey rink with Jasper when they were notified about the fires. They rushed home to meet Conor and Liam as quickly as they could, but upon arrival, the fire was overtaking the area and there was limited time to evacuate. The Grant boys took the little time they had left to run to so many of their neighbors’ homes and warn them. One neighbor was in the basement and had no idea the fire was coming. Another neighbor wasn’t home, but the boys saved their dogs and several of their important documents. They stopped at friends' homes to make sure they were evacuating. They put others first without expectation and Conor did this at the cost of not being able to save ANY of his personal possessions. We are so proud of these young men as a community and are beyond thankful they are safe and unharmed, despite having to drive through fire to escape their neighborhood.
Thank you to all the beautiful people who have reached out wondering how to help. While Jason and Leanne initially resisted, it became clear that GoFundMe was our only option. It’s hard to order items with Amazon gift cards when you still don’t have an address. It’s hard to use a King Soopers gift card when you still don’t have a kitchen. Finding housing is nearly impossible and once they find it, they’ll need to completely start over. It’s overwhelming, to say the least. This GoFundMe will help them meet these needs. Any remaining funds will go directly to their friends and neighbors in Spanish Hills impacted by the fires.
Thank you for helping our beautiful friends and our beloved community,
