Help the Go Janes finish their first CD
The Go Janes are Patrice O'Neill, Kathleen Tracy, and Arni Adler -- all of us longtime performers/songwriters in Seattle. We've been together as a trio, featuring guitar, ukuleles and original music, for four years (that's roughly two non-pandemic years). In that time we have performed numerous concerts, including for Seattle Folklore Society, Dusty Strings (with Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer), Traditions Fair Trade (in Olympia), Kenyon Hall, Black Dog Cafe, Seattle Folklife, the Lavender Festival, and the Moisture Festival, in addition to clubs and small theaters in and around Seattle.
Our writing ranges from tender and sweet love tributes to the simple act of being human with each other, to how weird it is that magicians used to (pretend to) saw women in half for entertainment. From monkey-infested golf courses in India, and what that teaches us about how to greet life's challenges, to letting go of our independent children, and losing those we love in more lasting ways. Along the way we pay homage to our ancestors and to each others' most idiosyncratic selves. And there are knife-throwers, and howling dogs, and how the pandemic made us fight with each other (and ourselves).
Our mission as a trio is to speak our truth while being as harmonious as possible! More harmony always seems good for the world. We hope to build community, spark creativity in each other and our fans and celebrate this phase of life and music career, our fourth decade playing music. (That's 120 years all together!)
Until now, we have raised money by selling painted rocks, leading one fan, while watching us haul these hefty objects around, to ask: "Have you guys ever heard of Go Fund Me?" So, now that we are nearing the completion of recording our first full-length CD, we are hoping for some help with the heavy (heavier) lifting part of this enterprise: raising funds for recording, mastering, duplication, and distribution.
We have two things we can offer for your support:
Free download code for the digital version of the CD for donations over $25.
House concerts for any donations over $2K.
We think a lot about the older man who came up to us after our concert at the Lavender Festival this summer, and said, "You should have a CD. I could listen to you all day long." We're almost there.
