THE GNARLY NARWHAL, OR: A MODERN-DAY QUIXOTE
A New Play by Brennan Saur
Directed by Dante Nastasi and Brennan Borden
After her ex-husband’s death in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Annette Bubbleburn returns home from a self-imposed exile to find her son Frederick transformed into The Gnarly Narwhal, an uber-nationalistic vigilante dedicated to preserving peace and justice, no matter the cost. An encounter with an overzealous mall cop, a sadistic television host, and a young couple lead us to the inevitable violent conclusion that calls into question American exceptionalism and our obsession with cycles of violence.
The Gnarly Narwhal will have it's premiere as a four-show run at The Tank, a home for emerging artists, this summer. The Tank graciously provides, at no cost, a performance venue and rehearsal space. However, there are still a number of extraneous costs associated with producing live theatre, which is why we're looking for your support.
Most importantly, we believe that all creative and technical personnel working within the project should be paid a fair amount; nearly half of the funds we're looking to raise will be paid directly to the actors and stagehands. The rest will be used to pay for props, set pieces, costumes, and additional space rental(s).
We thank you in advance for your support. Stay gnarly, folks.
