The Maine Center for Classic Aviation intends to create a mobile tribute to the Glorious DC-3 on Floats: The Greenville, Maine DC-3. MCCA has already acquired the nose section of a 1943 US Army Air Force C-47A “Skytrain” with the plans of restoration. The goal is to have the aircraft exterior painted into original Army colors and affixed to a better trailer in order to have on the shore of Moosehead Lake for the 2026 International Seaplane Fly In at Greenville, Maine.
The C-47 will become a mobile ambassador of Maine and will preserve the military history of the US Army and EDO Aircraft WWII Program to create an amphibious military transport . The only surviving example of this program is in Greenville, Maine.
Maine Center for Classic Aviation is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes. The primary purposes of MCCA is promoting aviation education, commemorating the history and heritage of human powered flight, preserving classic aircraft, and inspiring future aviators and aviation enthusiasts.
