In Nairobi, a £20 donation isn’t small, it’s life-changing.
I think you’ll want to help change some amazing lives….
So, what’s this all about?
Hi, my name’s Téa Robert-Nicoud, and I’m a third-year student at Birmingham University. This summer, I spent four weeks teaching 36 wonderful grade 4 kiddos at an incredible school in one of the poorest and most dangerous areas of Nairobi. We weren’t even allowed to walk alone – the kids would pick me up and drop me home because it was safer.
Those four weeks changed me. The school provides two proper meals a day, an education, love, and safety – things that many never experience at home. The school is open 10 hours a day, 6 days an week offering sanctuary to all 384 children who attend. No child is ever turned away – even if they can’t pay – it just means there’s less food to go around or the teachers don’t get paid.
I left feeling humbled, loved, and inspired. Now I want to do more.
What I’m Raising Money For…
Your donations will go towards:
• Paying off school fee debts for the most vulnerable children
• Covering future fees so they can continue their education
• Buying seeds and crops for the school gardens to help feed the children long-term
I will be working with Edgar, a teacher at Glad Kids (and one of the most incredible people I’ve ever met), to ensure every penny is spent directly where it’s needed most.
Meet Some of the Children
John: age 6, Grade 2.
Walks an hour and a half each way to school every day - Edgar walks to meet him along the way and keep him safe. His parents can’t support him - he’s never paid fees.
Purity: one of the kids struggling the most.
When I told her I’d contributed to her fees, her whole demeanour changed, and she broke down in my arms. The cost? £11.61. She’s still got a big debt with the school which she can’t pay off.
Brenda: age 11.
When Edgar explained her story to me, I just wanted to do something to help. She lives without any parents, cares for her younger sister, and travels miles to get to school - the girls, like many of the kids, only eat when they’re at school. Covering her debt and fees for Grade 5 and 6 cost just £109.
What Your Money Will Pay For…
£2 buys seeds for crops like cabbage and tomatoes to fill a school garden bed.
£4 provides beans for all 384 children (protein for one meal, the cost of a coffee).
£16 adds rice to those beans for every child.
£20 covers a full term’s fees, including meals and education (less than a meal out).
£60 covers a whole year’s fees (that’s teaching, food and support for 10hrs a day, six days a week)
Why Help?
Because you can – and because your money will have an immediate, tangible impact.
Imagine knowing that your donation fed a child for weeks, cleared their debt, or gave them the security of knowing they can stay in school.
You can help children like John, Brenda, Jasper, Mary Lucy, Tabitha, Dariocate, Samuel, Victor, Neema, Christine, Muli, Mnene, Miguel, Ketey, Letisha, Faith… and another 348 beautiful kiddos.
Please donate – any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference.
I promise Edgar and I will make sure your generosity directly changes these children’s lives.
Love Téa xx
