I'm Ginger Taylor, a South Carolina girl who grew up on hymns and spiritual songs. I still find these old lyrics stand the test of time: encouraging and anchoring... now more than ever. For some 15-plus years, I've been setting old hymns to new melodies so that I, and others, might hear these truths in a fresh way. In sharing some of the hymns that have been most meaningful to me, I hope others will find comfort and encouragement, and the timely reminder that Jesus, our Rock and Refuge, can never be shaken.
To offer these songs, I need my friend Peter Councell at Landslide Studios in Asheville, NC at the helm for recording and production, along with a number of session musicians. I will need to raise $7,000 to cover their costs and be ready to record by the end of February. I hope to make these songs available both digitally and on a limited number of CD's as well. This project would be beyond my means without their expertise, talent, and time!
Countless times over the years, I've been carried through depression and difficulty by honest and thoughtful songs, both old and new; songs that didn’t sugar-coat the brokenness of our world or what it looks like to earnestly follow Jesus. I am still carried by their reminders of our living Hope and future. I'm one voice among many, but it is my hope to give something of what they have given in abundance to me. Your help in bringing these songs to life mean more than I can possibly express.
