For the entirety of my 45 years on this earth, my father has been the first to offer help to anyone in need—whether as a devoted pastor, an endlessly patient father, a playful grandfather, or a loyal friend and colleague. He's the first person everyone calls when they need support, wisdom, or simply a listening ear. Now, that listening ear needs our help. Dad is rapidly losing his hearing, and without proper hearing aids—which cost $7,000—he faces a world of increasing silence. Unfortunately, his insurance doesn't cover any portion of these essential devices.

The man who taught my brother and me to love our neighbor as ourselves, who never missed a single game or band concert, who gives countless hours back to his community, is now struggling with the simplest conversations.
