Hello, my name is Alicia Skulemowski and I am starting this GoFundMe to help support my amazing friends, the Gemmell Family, during a very difficult time- Alex, his wife Prudence, and their two children: 20-month-old Curt and Ada, who is only 7-month-old.

In early 2022, Alex began to experience pain in his abdomen and difficulty with eating and drinking, which they thought was related to Pancreatitis. However, as the weeks went by, Alex noticed a lump in his abdomen that continued to grow, so he went to his PCP for further evaluation. Upon completion of a CT scan of his abdomen, it was revealed that he had a large mass measuring close to 15 cm between his stomach, pancreas, and duodenum (small intestine). He was referred for a biopsy, and it was confirmed that he has sarcoma, a very rare type of cancer that accounts for less than 1% of all types of cancers around the world.

On Friday, July 15th, Alex was taken to the ER due to complications that were severely impacting him and was admitted to the hospital. Alex remains hospitalized as they work to stabilize his vitals while dealing with an infection, breathing issues, and overall intense pain and discomfort in preparation for next steps, whether that is surgery or chemotherapy, but at this time, Alex is not strong enough for either and time is of the essence.

Alex is a hard-working father, a loving and devoted husband, and to his friends, one of the most caring and funniest people you could ever know. He has the biggest heart, the kindest soul, and would do anything to support others. Now we are asking for others to do the same for Alex by donating to help him and his family during this terrible and uncertain time and future as he battles with this aggressive cancer.

Any donation is incredibly appreciated and will go towards helping with medical costs and living expenses for Pru and the kids, as she is a stay-at-home mother who is now also a caregiver for Alex and could use the support.
