The Gelb family needs your help

45 year old Ryan Gelb is a loving husband to Terri, and caring father of Landon who is a senior this year at Newport Harbor Highschool. He has spent his life as an active parent, providing for his family. As a Californian, he enjoyed surfing, snowboarding, and most of all watching his son play football with his wife.

After suffering an injury to his scaphoid bone in 2015, Ryan underwent 37 surgeries to correct the injury and deal with several bacterial infections caused by some of the first surgeries.

While waiting to have a final surgery, on August 15, 2018, Ryan suffered a massive stroke, just one week after his 45th birthday. He had surgery to remove the right side of his skull on August 17th in order to relieve the pressure caused by brain swelling. He is now completely paralyzed on the left side of his body. Ryan is in a stroke care facility, after having been discharged from the Neuro ICU at Hoag Hospital. It will be another six months to a year before he can have surgery to replace the portion of his skull with titanium plates.

Ryan’s wife, Terri, has been supporting her husband and son, Landon. She was hoping this was going to end with his final surgery. But then came the stroke. Doctors say it could be a year, if ever, before Ryan recovers his function. At this point, nothing is for sure.

Please consider making a donation to Ryan and his family to help offset the cost of medical expenses and what will be a long recovery.
Please help spread the word!
