The Gateway Mural Project

If you enjoy the mural, please consider making a donation.

The four artists of Neighbourhood Love, Bareket, Julii, Natalie, and Julia, have worked really hard for the past three weeks with the production and painting of the Gateway Mural to make it the best it could be! (Not to mention the year and a half it took to get to this point with the grant application, community consultations and engagement, research, design process, etc.) As excited as we are for the completed piece, this experience of creating a 2000-square-foot exterior mural wasn’t easy. We would really appreciate the extra support as our city grant, unfortunately, didn’t cover all the overtime hours spent on this significant, logistically challenging, and detailed project. As South Etobicoke community members and public art supporters, your donations will help pay the artist fees and contribute to Neighbourhood Love's biggest mural yet! Thank you so much.

Please donate to our gofundme and help contribute to this massive public artwork that transformed a 200' expanse of concrete into a colourful bridge connecting the Sunnylea and Stonegate communities of South Etobicoke.

Created as part of StreetARToronto’s Partnership Program & Toronto’s Year of Public Art 2022, in collaboration with the Sunnylea-Stonegate Neighbourhood Association, the Gateway Mural Project will transform a 200-foot long retaining wall, located on Stephen Dr. near Waniska Ave, in June 2022. This dynamic mural will celebrate the natural environment of the South Humber River by incorporating themes of nature, local flora and fauna and by drawing on stories from the local community.

The mural aims to benefit the Sunnylea-Stonegate neighbourhood by strengthening the community's identity and sense of belonging, bringing neighbours together through different engagement opportunities, and nurturing art in youth.

*We are thrilled to be working side by side with the SunnyLea Stonegate Neighbourhood Association of South Etobicoke.  The SSNA values public art and it's ability to foster connection in our communities. When they reached out to us with a wall, and a dream we got to work!
