The Gasparro Family

Hi everyone, on Friday July 29th my brother in law Josh went riding and wrecked his dirt bike. He hit his head hard and knocked himself out, woke up completely confused, not knowing/remembering much of what happened or his day. He has a previous brain injury from repeat concussions and a cavernous malformation. Because of the malformation on his brain, his wife Tessa rushed him to Westmoreland Hospital where he got an x-ray of his chest, shoulder and neck, & also got a CT scan of his brain. When the doctor came back, she said Josh had multiple fractures in his neck and scapula, and a possible hemorrhage in his brain, but they didnt know if it was from his old brain bleed or if this was new. He was transferred to Forbes Trama Center, where he received another CT scan and it showed two new small hemorrhages. One on the membrane outside of his brain, and one on his brain. His scapula is broken and he’ll have to wear a sling for 6-8 weeks. His neck is fractured in his C7 vertebrae, T4 and 3 minimal fractures in his T 1, 2, & 3. It’s fractured across and exits out of where his nerves exit his spinal cord. There’s currently a lot of unknowns if surgery is needed, but even if it’s not needed he will still be in a neck brace religiously for at least 2 months. Josh is the sole provider for his family including his wife Tessa, 2 and 1/2 year old son Ryder, and a newborn on the way. Josh will be out of work for 3 months while focusing solely on his recovery. We are asking for and appreciate donations in any amount from friends, family or a kind stranger willing to help a family in need.
