Two American writer-composers, Carleigh McRitchie and Bella Wright, started writing this project at 19-years-old when they moved to Liverpool to study music. In a time of self-discovery, their first

year at University realised both their personal issues surrounding pleasure and sexual

miseducation. From countless discussions and a longing for something to relate to, The Gardening Club was born.

After two years of interviewing people of all ages and identity, as well as reaching inwards, The Gardening Club becomes a relatable, honest and emotional narrative with hysterically funny characters, crude innuendos and powerful female friendships. Featuring an explosive soundtrack of original catchy pop rock music, The Gardening Club explores the world of identity, healthcare transparency and gender equality in the 1950s – issues that are still relevant to today and will echo in the years to come, making The Gardening Club a timeless tale.

The Gardening Club is a developing project with intentions of re-writing and editing to better the story for future audiences. In order to obtain our highest dreams and goals of bringing our musical to bigger stages and audiences, we need your help! Funding is severely important to taking greater leaps for the project, such as more theatre festivals, tours in the UK, or traveling abroad for workshops in NYC. We have a vision of huge set pieces, beautiful and time-accurate costumes, and props to further bring to life the world of 1950s Savannah, Georgia, in which your donations will contribute to!
