Within the span of two weeks, I lost both my brother and my mother due to COVID. It was just the three of us, so this has been completely overwhelming. Neither of them wanted a memorial or a funeral, just a cremation and to be brought home.
My mother, Mary, was sweet and loving, and one of my best friends. If you were her kids' friend, you were automatically family. She loved George Strait, sharks, her family, her friends, and her fur babies. She was a single mother who worked so hard to make sure my brother and I had everything we needed. She struggled through chronic pain, and was finally able, the last year of her life, to retire and rest. She deserved longer years of rest.
My brother, Steven, was another of my best friends. He never failed to make you laugh - no one could tell a story like him. He was the best friend you could have, a hard worker, a gamer, and loved his cat more than most people. He was younger than me, and was taken away from us way too soon.
This is really hard for me to write out. I loved them both so, so much, and I can't really do them justice. What has been comforting is the outpouring of stories and love from their friends that I have received. I know they were loved, they were appreciated, and I am sure they knew that, too.
I am only asking for enough to cover their cremation and some bills that were left behind. Hopefully I can raise enough quickly so that I can bring them both home to rest.
